About Us
Meet the Garlic Gods
Jana Yockey
Hi, I'm Jana — part of a fifth-generation farm family whose roots trace back to a homestead established by my great-great-grandparents in 1908.
I was raised in Idaho's Magic Valley, where farming wasn't just an occupation — it was a way of life. My family's connection to the land spans generations, and those values of hard work, stewardship, and community continue to shape everything we do today.
In 2025, my husband Geoff and I began a new chapter when we moved Garlic Gods to East Tennessee. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, it's a place with rich soil, a strong farming heritage, and a community that reminds us a lot of where we came from. While we've left Idaho behind, we've carried those generations of farming knowledge, traditions, and values with us.
I've always loved being outdoors, caring for animals, and spending time with family. These days you'll still find me in jeans and boots, tending garlic, caring for our homestead animals, and working alongside Geoff to grow the best garlic we possibly can.
For us, farming is more than a business. It's a lifestyle built around producing wholesome food, caring for the land, and staying connected to the natural world. Alongside our garlic crop, we enjoy raising animals, growing a garden, and continually learning how to become better stewards of the farm we're blessed to call home.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We're so glad you're here.
Geoffrey Yockey
Geoff's story has come full circle.
He was raised on a small farm in Tennessee before moving to Florida as a teenager. There, he discovered a passion for food that led him into the restaurant industry and eventually to culinary school.
Over the next several decades, Geoff built a successful career as a chef in fine dining restaurants along Florida's east coast. Yet no matter how much he loved the culinary world, he always felt called back to agriculture and life on the farm.
Today, Geoff combines his farming roots with his culinary background in a way few people can. His understanding of flavor, quality, and food production drives everything we do at Garlic Gods.
Whether he's researching soil health, testing new growing methods, evaluating varieties, or talking with other growers, he's constantly focused on one question:
"How do we make this better?"
That commitment to continuous improvement is at the heart of everything we grow.
From the beginning of our marriage, we knew our journey would lead us back to the farm...
Farming was always a shared dream. Over the years, we explored many specialty crops before discovering our passion for garlic.
What drew us to garlic was the opportunity to be involved in every step of the process — from selecting varieties and planting cloves to harvesting, curing, and sharing our harvest directly with gardeners and growers across the country.

Today, Garlic Gods is proudly based in East Tennessee, where we grow gourmet heirloom garlic using sustainable, regenerative farming practices. We never use pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we focus on building healthy soil through cover crops, crop rotation, compost, and careful stewardship of the land.
Our move to Tennessee wasn't simply a change of address. It was a chance to build the next chapter of Garlic Gods in a place that feels like home, while combining Jana's five-generation farming heritage with Geoff's Tennessee roots and culinary expertise.
More than anything, we believe great garlic starts with healthy soil, hard work, and a genuine connection to the people we serve.
Follow along as we continue growing Garlic Gods — one bulb at a time.

Our Journey: From Rupert, Idaho to Tennessee — Bringing Heirloom Garlic to Growers Across America
From the heart of Southern Idaho's Magic Valley—and now, the rolling hills of Tennessee—a husband-and-wife team is cultivating more than just garlic—they're preserving a legacy, championing soil health, and delivering premium, healthy garlic seed to gardeners across the United States.
In winter 2025, the Yockeys relocated their operation to Tennessee, bringing their expertise and commitment to quality garlic seed to new soil while continuing to serve growers nationwide.
Founded in 2018, Garlic Gods began as a specialty garlic seed farm in Rupert, Idaho. Owners Geoffrey and Jana Yockey returned to Jana's hometown from Florida to continue her family's five-generation farming heritage. After years of building their operation in Idaho's high desert climate, the Yockeys embarked on their next chapter—relocating to Tennessee in winter 2025, where Geoff's own farming roots began. Their mission remains unchanged: providing premium, top-quality seed garlic with sustainable practices.
